Part 3: The First Months in Switzerland
The First Day of Work
CareToMatch had already done a lot of groundwork by matching my profile with a suitable hospital. I had previously spent a day shadowing, but my first day at the hospital in Zurich was still exciting! I was warmly welcomed by my new colleagues and given a thorough tour of the hospital. The modern facilities and high standard of care impressed me. Although the work rhythm and procedures were different from what I was used to, I quickly adapted.
Cultural Differences
It took a while to get used to Swiss culture. The Swiss were generally a bit more reserved than the Belgians, but I quickly noticed that they were incredibly friendly and helpful. It took me some time to make new friends, but my colleagues were very supportive. CareToMatch connected me with nurses and therapists in the area, helping me feel at home quickly.
Enjoying Nature
In my free time, I discovered the breathtaking nature of Switzerland. I regularly went hiking in the Alps, enjoyed the beautiful lakes, and explored charming towns and villages. The tranquility and beauty of the landscape gave me a sense of freedom and happiness.
A New Start
After a few months, I felt completely at home in Switzerland. I had made new friends, found my footing at work, and enjoyed everything the country had to offer. The decision to move to Switzerland was one of the best choices I had ever made. I was grateful for the opportunities I received and looked forward to a promising future in my new home country. Thanks to the support of CareToMatch, the transition went smoothly, and I could focus on building my new life.
